TEST, the project promoted by Tellus in partnership with Italian business incubator and entrepreneurial academy 012Factory, was designed to bring together UK business professionals and Italian entrepreneurs and allow them to learn from one another at 012Factory’s workspace in Caserta, Campania.

Over a period of 12 months the project sent 24 UK professionals to mentor start-up businesses currently learning in the 012Factory academy programme for entrepreneurs and start-up businesses.

last 2 years, the seven partners of 012Factory, each with their own unique business expertise, have seen great success with their model of “positive contamination”.

This concept focuses on providing a space where professionals and entrepreneurs alike share personal expertise, skills, experience and ideas based on the principal that ideas and cooperation are essential to realizing innovation and creating sustainable start-ups.

This concept gave birth to the academy programme, an entpreneurial academy which allows aspiring business people to develop their business ideas within the 012Factory environment, giving them access to expert business advice, 012Factory events and a twelve module, 6 month training period.

The benefits of the TEST project were therefore that it increased the effectiveness of the academy by allowing the participants to seek the advice, guidance and feedback of a wider range of people with completely different business backgrounds and expertise.

It also promoted the concept of positive contamination by putting together Italian entrepreneurs with UK business people who often possess a different business culture and can offer a fresh perspective on business ideas.

Indeed Enrico Vellante, one of the founders of 012Factory said that “being hit by the British entrepreneurial mindset has been incredibly beneficial for our students/entrepreneurs; the UK mentors experience, ideas and positive attitude have had a great impact on the “startuppers” and on us who manage the academy”
